What to eat before a workout

Working out without the right amount of fuel in your tank can lower your blood sugar and leave you feeling weak, dizzy, lightheaded, lethargic and can hinder your ability to maintain the energy you need to get the most out of your exercise.

It’s true that giving your body food before a workout is like filling your car with fuel before a journey, but not everyone responds well to eating beforehand. For those who can comfortably handle it, we recommend a Viktual+ Pre-Workout and a snack like oats, scrambled eggs and avocado, or a piece of wholegrain toast with peanut or almond butter and banana 30 minutes prior to exercise. These are great sources of protein and carbohydrates to help you power through your workout. It’s important to keep in mind that you don’t need a lot of food and that a light carbohydrate and protein-rich meal will generally give you energy to last the workout.

For those who need a boost and a burst of hydration to help maximise their workout but don’t want to feel too full and heavy, try our pre-workout and general energiser Viktual+ Pre-Workout. Pre-Workout will help maintain hydration levels and give you a burst of energy that you can use either as a pick me up or a pre-workout boost. Again, this is best taken around 30 minutes beforehand to help you manage and maintain your energy levels all the way through your workout.

Whether it’s alongside a snack or on its own, set yourself up for a great workout with Viktual+ Pre-Workout.
